Koch scores 4 in Northeast field hockey win

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Monday.

Field hockey Northeast 7, Meade 0:

McKenzie Koch scored four goals in the win. Amber Wright, Emily Schultz and Faith Schultz also had goals. Abigayle Auster contribute­d an assist. Northeast’s defense didn’t allow Meade a shot on goal.

Broadneck 7, McDonogh 0: Raleigh Kerst scored twice, while Katelyn Kerns and Charlotte Robertson each finished with a goal and an assist in the Bruins’ win. Emily Naylor, Zoe Bjelac and Cayman Holmes also scored. Chloe Page and Abbie Morris had assists. Mia Moody made one save for Broadneck. Regan O’Donovan made 16 saves for McDonogh.

South River earned the road win behind goals from Alex Alto and Reese Toth. All the scoring came in the first quarter. Caitin Wolf scored off a Delaney Miller assist for the Cougars.

South River 2, Chesapeake 1:

Archbishop Spalding 4, Maryvale Prep 0: Skylar Gilman, Taylor Thorne, Avery Ruckman and Jilly Lawn all had goals for the Cavaliers in the IAAM A Conference opener. Paige Sanborn and Charlotte Bromley each had an assist. Rowan O’Toole had a save.

Southern 6, Old Mill 2: Ava Wooster shot three goals to lead the Bulldogs.

Girls soccer

Glen Burnie 1, Concordia Prep 0: Stephanie Ohl netted a 30-yard goal in the 29th minute to deliver the Gophers the victory. Allyson Miller (four saves) and Pela Saunders (three saves) split time in the cage. Glen Burnie faces St. Mary’s on Friday.

Boys soccer

Key 4, Saints Peter and Paul 2: Paolo Pena scored twice in a come-from-behind win for the Obezags (1-2). Drew Barnes and Christian Dent also scored for Key. In goa, Lunt Woodward made 11 saves.

South River (3-0) scored early in the first half with a Cole

South River 2, Urbana 1:

Mastal diving header. After Urbana tied the game with 10 minutes left, the Seahawks retook the lead when Lucas Gardeniers headed a Daniel Rodriguez cross into the net.

Girls volleyball

Key 3, Mount Carmel 1: The Obezags won, 25-20, 25-19, 18-25, 25-21. Emma Woznysmith had eight aces and seven kills to lead the win. Lucy Glassman had seven kills and six aces. Kristina Ajayi had five aces and eight assists.

Arundel 3, Mount de Sales 0: The Wildcats won, 27-25, 25-14, 25-22.

The Gophers picked up the win, 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-13. For Southern, Huntyr Marks had 15 assists and four aces. Lexi Forbes and Kaelyn Page each had seven kills.

Glen Burnie 3, Southern 1:

The Bruins won in four sets (25-12; 27-29; 25-11; 25-19) behind Brin Chestnut, who had three aces, 17 kills and 10 digs, as well as Casey Gish (14 kills, one block) and Sydney Lawrence (one ace, six kills, 52 assists, 11 digs).
