Pasadena man sustains lifethreatening injuries in house fire
A Pasadena man was transported to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center after sustaining life-threatening injuries in an early morning house fire Friday, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
The man and another woman, both residents of the home, were sent to the Glen Burnie hospital around 3:15 a.m. when fire officials responded to the 500 block of Kintop Road. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Anne Arundel fire officials said in a news release.
Additionally, a lieutenant firefighter was transported to an area hospital for minor burns. The Baltimore/ Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department assisted the county fire department in controlling the blaze, which took less than 30 minutes tp put out. There were 48 firefighters on scene, according to the news release.
A neighbor alerted authorities to the fire, officials said, and fire crews were able to arrive on the scene less than seven minutes later.
The home was “fully involved with fire,” according to the news release, and the man was trapped inside.
The woman was able to get out of the home on her own.
The fire department attributed “advanced medical treatment” from county paramedics and emergency medical technicians to saving the life of the trapped occupant after getting him out of the house.
The Anne Arundel County Fire/Arson and Explosives Unit is working to identify the cause of the fire and both the county’s Crisis Response Team and the American Red Cross are working to assist the displaced family.
Smoke detectors were present and in working condition at the time of the fire, according to the fire department.
