-

Kathryn Anne Hikes, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and wife, passed away on March 4, 2024 at the age of 78.

Kathy was born on August 4, 1945 to Daniel W. Fedak and Anne (née Russell) Fedak in Baltimore, Maryland. She was raised there and in Prompton, Pennsylvania with her younger sister Diane and attended Honesdale High School. She later moved to Severna Park, Maryland to be near family, which was important to her, and to work nearby.

Kathy worked as a secretary at Westinghouse OR&EC near Annapolis, where she met her husband-to-be, Carl Hikes. The couple were married on November 30, 1968 in Baltimore. Kathy then studied nursing at Anne Arundel Community College where she received an Associate-In-Arts with an RN in 1974. After working briefly as a nurse, she left the profession to raise her four children.

Kathy loved her family, gardening, cooking, and her Lutheran faith. She spent many hours volunteering at her children’s schools and also assisted with teaching in the Sunday School at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was very involved in volunteering with the Severna Park High School marching band and SPAN (Serving People Across Neighborhoods). Kathy’s circle of family and friends in Severna Park was very important to her, and she strove to give back to the community by volunteering her time and assets on a daily basis.

Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Erica Hikes. She is survived by her beloved husband Carl, her sons Kurt of Severna Park and Mark (Claudia) of Baltimore, her daughter Maria Jordan (Keiver) of Perry Hall, her grandchildren Keiver Jack Jordan, Lily Jordan and Mabel Hikes, and her sister Diane (Y.C.) Lee.
