New traffic study needed for Two Rivers in Odenton

-

The people of Two Rivers in Odenton need a new traffic study before any other areas are approved for development. A traffic study was performed for the proposed rubble landfill fill back in the late 1980s.

This same company that did the traffic study for the landfill was also hired to do the traffic study for the Two Rivers Planned Unit Development. The person who hired the traffic study for Two Rivers was a former Halle employee. In the second traffic study there is no mention of the rubble-fill traffic at all. It is amazing to me this was not caught.

The school that will open this fall was able to be built without a traffic study. County Executive Steuart Pittman unfortunately inherited this problem. However, at this point the second entrance on Meyers Station Road needs to be built as a permanent not an emergency exit in or out.

Yes, I have done work for Warren Halle (full disclosure). I am deeply concerned that the road improvements proposed around the school are not enough.

Why should any person living in Two Rivers accept a temporary emergency exit or entrance? Why was a PUD of that size approved without two entrances? There is no other PUD of that size in the county that does not have two ways of getting in or out. Again this was prior to Pittman becoming county executive.

It is my understanding that even more lots are being proposed. How can more units be built without a new traffic study? The traffic is a nightmare now, and the residents have been told there will be a temporary emergency entrance. This is not acceptable. Original owners were told there would be a permanent one and drawings at the sales center showed one. They were taken down.

A new road needs to be built not a temporary one. No additional sections should be approved without getting a new traffic study. Conway Road still floods. The circle is beautiful but does not solve the problem. We should all be asking how a PUD of this
