Katherine Marie Calender

Katherine Marie (née Popp) Calender passed away on March 10, 2024. She was born on November 12, 1942, in Welch, West Virginia, to her parents John J. Popp and Margaret (née Kapish) Popp. Katherine was raised in Thorpe, WV and attended Gary High School and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV in 1964. From 1964 to 2008 she worked as an elementary school teacher for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Katherine began at Eastport Elementary School and finished at Cape St. Claire Elementary School. She was married to Harry Allen Calender on December 28, 1966, and they lived in Cape St. Claire before settling in Severna Park. Katherine was a member of the Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association and the Arnold Senior Center. She enjoyed taking trips with friends to South Carolina, Florida, and other places; trips with family to Cape Cod, Texas, historical sites, and other places; and going out to dinner with family and friends. Katherine is survived by her son, Matthew Calender of Glen Burnie, MD and her sister Frances Liddle of Toms River, NJ. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 am in St. Andrew by the Bay Roman Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21409. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. Interment will be private.
