- By Luke Parker

An Annapolis man pleaded guilty to murder and assault in two separate cases last month, according to court records.

Dyamonick Gray, 20, pleaded guilty in February to first-degree murder in the killing of Amari

Tydings, a 26-year-old mother and lifelong Anne Arundel County resident who was shot and killed June 3 in her Annapolis home. Gray also admitted to using a firearm to commit a violent crime. He had been set to go to trial on Friday.

Gray also pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in an unrelated shooting on June 2, the day before Tydings was killed. He had initially been charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, among other charges.

Gray will be sentenced in both cases April 2 before Anne Arundel Circuit

Judge J. Michael Wachs.

No other information on the two shootings was available in court records.

Defense attorney David Putzi declined to comment until after Gray’s April sentencing hearing.

Aged 19 at the time of the crimes, Gray was indicted in both cases less than a week after Tydings’ death. He was arrested four days later, according to court records.

Known affectionately as “Mari,” Tydings lived in Anne Arundel County throughout her life. After graduating from Annapolis High School in 2015, Tydings enrolled in the

Anne Arundel Community College’s dental assistance program, according to her obituary. At the time of her death, she was working as a pharmacy technician at a local Walgreens store.

Tydings was also mother to a young daughter, who her family described as her “greatest joy.”
