Cougars’ Adams throws no-hitter

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday.

Baseball

Chesapeake 1, Southern 0: Dylan Adams threw a complete game no-hitter for the host Cougars. Adams threw seven innings, walked two and struck out 10. Chesapeake scored the only run in the fourth inning.

Broadneck

11, Annapolis 0:

Kobe Owen, Devin McGowan and freshman Cooper Mengel combined efforts to throw a no-hitter for the host Bruins. Starter Owen went three innings and got the win. Reliever McGowan worked the fourth inning and walked one. Mengel threw the fifth inning and hit one batter. Broadneck scored six runs in the second inning. Calvin Cook had a double, a home run and two RBIs for the Bruins.

Glen Burnie 7, South River 3:

Peyton Ingle pitched six innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits to help the Gophers beat the Seahawks. Mason Williams, Jordan Dailey, Joey Portera and Elijah Simms all had two hits while Dylan Kellner tripled and knocked in a run.

Crofton 14, Severna Park 4:

Cardinals senior Zack Leinemann threw a complete game, striking out four in five innings. Offensivel­y, Zack Leinemann, Travis Fleshman, Jack Woods and Jason Gifford each collected two hits. Every member of the Cardinals lineup had a hit, RBI or run scored.

Girls lacrosse Annapolis Area Christian 18, St. Vincent Pallotti 6:

Elllie Hansen scored five goals and the host Eagles (4-1, 4-0 Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n of Maryland C Conference) beat the Panthers (1-7, 1-3). The win was the fourth straight.

Boys lacrosse

C. Milton Wright 8, Chesapeake-AA 5:

Gavin Morris scored three goals as the Mustangs won a defensive battle. Hunter Cappe made 12 saves for the visiting Cougars.
