Ringgold softball team turns it around
The Ringgold softball team is on a hot streak.
The Tigers enter the week with a 7-3 overall record and are 5-0 in the subregion following a recent four-game winning streak.
The Tigers 5-2 loss to rival Heritage on Aug. 17 was the their third consecutive defeat.
Since that game, Ringgold has defeated Sonoraville, 3-1, on Aug. 18; Cohulla Creek, 8-0, on Aug. 21; Cartersville, 7-0, on Aug. 23 and Sonoraville, 7-2, on Aug. 25.
Ringgold head coach Rachel Hodge said, “It was a great week.”
“We had a lot of kids step up and contribute in every win this week,” she said. “We have really worked hard on executing and we have gotten better in every part of our game. I’m very proud of our game.”
In Ringgold’s game against Cartersville Thursday, the Blue-andWhite combined for 12 hits in the 7-0 shutout.
Ericka Bynum and Chandler Turner paced the Tigers offensively.
Bynum was 3-for-3 including a double and a home run.
Turner was also 3-for-3 including a double. Lacey Loy was 1-for-2.
Pitcher Brittany Portwood got the win to extend her record to 5-2 overall.
In the Tigers’ 7-2 win over Sonoraville, the Blue-and-White
combined for 10 hits to earn their seventh win of the season.
Taylor Chadwick and Bynum were 2-for-3 each. McKinney was 2-for-4 and Devan Brown had a double.
