Application deadline Sept. 1 for deer quota hunts
The window of opportunity is closing for people interested in a 2012 deer quota hunt.
If you want a chance, you need to complete your online quota application before midnight Sept. 1, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.
“Don’t hesitate to get your application in for a quota hunt, or you will miss a superb hunting opportunity,” said John Bowers, assistant chief of the Game Management Section. “Quota hunt locations and dates are specifically selected to provide one of the best hunting experiences you can have. We believe this coming season will bring much success to participating hunters.”
Deer quota opportunities include hunts on wildlife management areas and state park lands, dogdeer hunting and adult/child hunting opportunities.
To apply, visit georgiawildlife.com/hunting/quota, then click on “Access the NEW Quota Hunt System!” Read all instructions under the “About” tab thoroughly. The instructions contain critical information on how to create an account and successfully submit an application. Create an account, even if you have had an account in the old system. (The new system launched in 2012.) Apply using the instructions provided under the “About” tab.
Make sure your email address is correct so that you can receive quota updates, confirmations and other notices about quota hunts. You can check your application status through your online account starting Sept. 2.
