Heritage has strong finish at Baylor

The Heritage High School cross country team recorded a pair of Top 5 team finishes at the third Chattanoog­a Cross Country League race of the season Tuesday evening at the Baylor School.

All six Heritage runners placed in the Top 35 as the Lady Generals finished second with 58 points, just nine points behind winner Signal Mountain (49). Baylor also finished with 58 points, but Heritage took the runner-up slot on a tiebreaker.

Sarak Buckler was seventh overall with a time of 20:36.08, nippingtea­mmate Caitlin Craft (20:36.93) at the line. Noor Sabeeh (21:11) was14th, followed by Lacey Rooks (19th, 21:59), Mallory Edwards (22nd, 22:11), and Katelyn Thompson (33rd, 22:54).

Signal Mountain's Mallory Young (18:59) won the girls' varsity race by

nearly a full minute over Kathryn radenburgh (19:57) of the Chattanoog­a Patriots, while Baylor's Grace Carlson (20:05) took third.

On the boys' side, a sixth-place by Judd Bates (17:15) helped propel the Generals to a fifth-place performanc­e in the team standings.

Baylor's boys cruised to the win with 36 points, easily outdistanc­in second-place Coahulla Creek (122), while Northwest Whitfield (132) was third.

Chris Quinn was 30th overall for Heritage, clocking in at 18:31. Avery

Dickinson (18:42), Ryan Gebelein (18:46), and Jerryd Tennyson (18:46 all turned in Top 50 finishes, while Ben Rebne (19:28) and Chuckie

Thurman (19:29) rounded out the lineup for the Generals.

Bradley Central's Harold Smith breezed to yet another CCCL victory.

His time of 16:25 was 27 seconds faster than Ooltewah's Garrett Flores (16:52) and 30 seconds quicker than Baylor's Jackson Goodwin (16:55).

Dennis Walton was Heritage's top JV finisher with a time of 20:58.

The Ringgold High School Lady Tigers placed 18th overall behind a 49th-place showing by Kattie Smith (23:57). Also racing for the

Ringgold varsity was Jillian Jackson (24:48), Zuggeyly Mendoza (27:09), Logan Morrison (31:22), and Amanda Medley (33:20).

Spencer Jones led the Tiger boys' effort with a 19:27. Also racing for

Ringgold included Michael McDonald (21:15), Jamie Basham (22:27), Nick Crawford (22:27), Steven Green (22:31), Nathan Watson (23:11), and Trey Roberson (24:06). The Tigers finished 26th as a team.

Ringgold did not have a runner participat­ing in the JV race.

The LFO boys got a team-best 20:37 from Terry Ellis and the Warriors placed 25th overall. Tyler Seabourn (21:07) and Hunter Woodward (21:08) were next for the Red-andWhite, followed by Jared Garrison (21:45), GaaMon Yip (21:59), Brooks Hyde (22:28), and Ken Wallen(23:02).

Katie Shelly had the top time for the Lady Warriors with a 22:44.

Arlania Heming ran a 28:49, while Emily Farmer clocked in at 34:16.

LFO did not have enough runners to qualify for the team scores.

Noah Harris ran a 23:04 for the LFO JV squad.
