Ringgold man charged with aggravated battery in Fort Oglethorpe

-

A Ringgold man was arrested after he allegedly pulled up to another vehicle at a stop light in Fort Oglethorpe and punched the driver in the face, police say.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Holden Keith Adams, 23, of KOA Boulevard was arrested Tuesday, April 14, on charges of aggravated battery and parole violation. His bond was set at $5,000.

The alleged incident occurred just after 10 a.m. Sunday, April 12, on Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) near Dietz Road.

Officers met with a teenage male who stated he’d been assaulted while stopped at the red light.

“He stated a dark colored sport utility vehicle stopped next to his vehicle,” officer William Palmer said. “He said the driver exited the vehicle and approached his. He said the man then tapped on the window to have him lower it.”

After lowering his window, the victim claimed the stranger said “what’s up ni**a,” and then told him to look over at something before punching him in the face.

The victim’s nose was swollen, and he had significant redness, swelling, and bruising visible on his face, reports show.

The suspect fled the scene, and the victim then drove to where his mother was and informed her of the incident. The victim later went to the hospital where it was determined his nose had been broken.

A witness observed the whole incident, recalled the events occurring just as the victim had claimed. Holden K. Adams

That witness also followed the SUV to get the vehicle information for police.

Eventually, the suspect turned around on Dyer Bridge Road and passed the witness.

The witness told police the suspect yelled something about the victim he punched messing around with his girlfriend.

The witness described the suspect as being a tall, white male with black hair who appeared to be in his mid-twenties. He also provided the vehicle information on a blue 1996 Isuzu Trooper, which lead to police linking Adams to the crime.
