Two employees arrested for allegedly stealing from Ingles
Two grocery store employees in Ringgold are facing theft charges after they allegedly swindled their employer out of a large sum of money by intercepting meat products and selling them on the side, police say.
According to the Ringgold Police Department:
Kevin Patrick Moran of Rossville and Robert David Stewart of Chatsworth were each arrested for theft Wednesday, March 15. Both men have been released on bond.
Investigators say the thefts occurred at the Ingles Market on Alabama Highway in Ringgold, where Moran and Stewart both worked.
According to Police Chief Dan Bilbrey, the store’s management discovered the activity and reported the two men.
“The thefts happened over a period of the past several months,” Bilbrey said. “The store initiated observation of the men and conducted an internal investigation, which lead to our involvement.”
Bilbrey said the two men worked in the meat department and were selling the store’s meat products on the side.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Bilbrey said. “We’re still interviewing folks and talking to people who made purchases from these men.”
Store officials say that both men have been fired.
