Family Crisis Center prepping for annual fundraiser March 24

- By Adam Cook

The Family Crisis Center of Walker, Catoosa, Chattooga and Dade Counties is preparing for its annual Mystery Dinner Show fundraiser to be held Saturday, March 24, at the Walker County Civic Center.

The event, which is a whodunit with elements of comedy and music, is designed to help the center provide assistance to women and children subjected to domestic violence.

This year’s show will mark the fourth year of the event overall and the second to take place at the Civic Center.

Last year’s “YeeHaw Jamboree” brought in nearly $25,000, and this year’s 1950s “Happy Days, Again” show is primed to entertain audiences as well.

Each year the cast is made up of elected officials, community leaders, and members of law enforcement.

Center Director Kristy Lawson says proceeds from the event will help the FCC provide shelter, food, clothing, and other

necessities for women and children victimized by domestic violence.

“The funding not only helps us to have a match for some of our grant funding that we receive, but it allows us to provide specific needs for the shelter and the domestic violence victims and their children that we serve,” Lawson said.

Individual seats are available for $45, or sponsorships for tables of eight are available for $350.

In addition to the dinner and show, a silent auction will take place, as well as door prizes and a costume contest.

Additional information about the event can be obtained by calling 706-375-7180, or emailing klawson@ fccdwcc.org.
