LaFayette boys maintain court perfection with three more victories

The LaFayette Ramblers stayed unbeaten on the season with three victories last week and will enter the new week sporting a shiny 5-0 record.

LaFayette boys 5, Ridgeland 0

The Ramblers pick up a home win over the Panthers last Tuesday.

Jarrod Sitton beat Evan Boeding, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Isaiah Southern beat Anthony Woodward, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, while Jac Curole downed Fred Norman, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.

Ridgeland (0-2) forfeited both doubles matches.

LaFayette boys 4, Dade County 1

The Ramblers kept rolling with a win over the Wolverines on Wednesday.

Sitton (8-0), Southern (8-2) and Curole (8-5) all won singles matches for the Ramblers. Andrew Long and Jonah Hobbs won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, but Damian Brown and Tyler Massengill suffered an 8-5 setback.

In exhibition doubles, Ben Maanum and Anthony Collins claimed a 6-4 victory.

LaFayette boys 5, Gordon Lee 0

The Ramblers concluded their week with a home win over the Trojans.

Sitton beat Ryan McCurdy, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Southern picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Garrison Heiden and Curole stopped Erik Olofsson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.

Long and Hobbs beat Owen Frost and Tucker Trivette, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles, while Brown and Massengill finished things off with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Samuel Fehr and Bradley Stoker.

McCurdy and Trivette earned a 6-2 win for the Trojans in a one-set exhibition doubles match against Maanum and Collins.

LaFayette girls 3, Ridgeland 2

The Lady Panthers (0-2) won two singles matches, but had to forfeit the other three matches as the Lady Ramblers got the victory.

Nicole Payne beat LaTyah Barber at No. 1 singles, 6-2, while Lexi Mitchell scored a 6-2 win over Macy Brewer at No. 2 singles.

Dade County girls 3, LaFayette 2

The Lady Ramblers won both doubles matches, but were swept in singles.

Micaela Hobbs (80), Barber (8-2) and Megan Torbett (8-1) lost in singles play. Skylar Oxford and Aubrey Steadman won their

three shots after playing the final 15 minutes.

LaFayette boys 2, Ridgeland 1

A hard-fought, physical battle saw the Ramblers outshoot the Panthers (3-3-1, 0-2) by an 11-6 count to pick up the victory.

LaFayette scored 10 minutes into the match before Angel Ojeda tied things up for Ridgeland at the 30-minute mark. But the Ramblers would get the go-ahead goal early in the second half and made it stand up.

Ethan Kennedy and Ben McDaniel scored for the Ramblers, while Kennedy and Devin Henderson each tallied an assist. Beau Thrash

had four saves in net for the Ramblers.

LaFayette boys 3, Gilmer 1

Down 1-0 at halftime, the Ramblers stormed back in the second half on Friday night to pick up a big region victory over the Bobcats in LaFayette.

Henderson took a Matthew Newsom throw-in and tied up the score 10 minutes into the second half.

A McDaniel goal with approximat­ely six minutes left put the hosts up 2-1 and Tobey Aggeler finished it with two minutes to play to put the match out of reach.

Thrash had seven saves in goal and the Ramblers outshot Gilmer, 13-3, as they improved to 3-2 overall

and 2-0 in Region 6-AAAA.

Gilmer girls 4, LaFayette 2

The Lady Ramblers fell behind 4-1 at halftime and attempted a rally in the second half, but fell to two goals short.

Tarvin scored the first goal for LaFayette (3-1, 1-1) off an assist from Queen. Queen found the net in the second half from the top of the 18-yard box, following an assist from Wilson.

The Lady Ramblers finished with 15 shots on goal.

Lynn had four saves in goal, while Adkins finished the match in net and stopped eight shots, helping to keep Gilmer off the board in the second half.

Gordon Lee falls in Dalton

Last Tuesday at Lakeshore Park, the Trojans and Lady Trojans both lost 5-0 to Christian Heritage.

Brandenbur­g, McElhaney and Bailey played singles for the Lady Trojans, while the doubles teams were comprised of Underwood and Canaan Burnett along with Dockery and Finch.

Playing singles for the Trojans was McCurdy and Heiden. Doubles teams included Frost and Trivette along with Fehr and Michael Aiken.

Stoker lost in an exhibition match. Individual matches scores were not available as of press time.
