Her­itage net­ters take con­trol in 6-AAAA

The Her­itage Lady Gen­er­als im­proved to 6-1 over­all and 3-0 in Re­gion 6-AAAA play with three more vic­to­ries last week.

Last Tues­day, they rolled to a 5-0 sweep of Gilmer with­out drop­ping a set in the road win. Caro­line Hors­ley won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 sin­gles. Emma Lokey picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 sin­gles and Maleah McAlis­ter earned a 6-2, 6-4 win to sweep the sin­gles matches.

Then in dou­bles, the No. 1 team of Erin Hulsey and Kate­lyn Burns cruised 6-1, 6-1, while Mor­gan Phillips and Bai­ley Chris­tol fin­ished the match with a 6-1, 6-3 vic­tory.

Wed­nes­day saw a 4-1 vic­tory over South­east Whit­field as Hors­ley picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Deliah Fowler at No. 1 sin­gles. Lokey de­feated Lau­ren Allen, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 sin­gles, while South­east won the fi­nal sin­gles match as Alyson Kountz de­feated Grace Bea­gles, 6-4, 6-2.

Her­itage would close it out with a sweep in dou­bles. Hulsey and Burns beat Jaycee Chas­taine and Lind­sey Shel­ton, 6-2, 6-1, while Phillips and Chris­tol de­feated Anna Boyd and Ana Ce­laya, 6-2, 6-0.

Then on Thurs­day, at Ed­wards Park in Dal­ton, the Lady Gen­er­als dis­patched North­west Whit­field by a 4-1 count.

Girls’ sin­gles win­ners in­cluded Lokey (6-3, 6-4) and McAlis­ter (6-0, 6-1). Hulsey and Burns won at No. 1 dou­bles (6-1, 6-1), while Phillips and Chris­tol won at No. 2 dou­bles (6-1, 6-1).

Gen­er­als keep pace with three wins

The Her­itage boys (6-1, 3-0) also went 3-0 last week, get­ting by Gilmer on Tues­day be­fore hav­ing an eas­ier time with the Whit­field County schools on Thurs­day and Fri­day.

The Gen­er­als picked up a nar­row 3-2 vic­tory over the Bob­cats. Leo Peace lost the first sin­gles match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, to Carter Hice. Tim Grayson an­swered with a 6-4, 7-6 (0) win over Brett Becker, but Davis Kilgo fell to Tripp Pierce, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 sin­gles.

How­ever, Her­itage would pull out the win af­ter sweep­ing both dou­bles matches. Cooper Terry and Eric Woot­ten beat Corbin Sin­gle­ton and Luke Wim­pey, 7-6 (2), 6-3, and Blake Richard­son and Ethan Bone polished things off with a 6-0, 6-1 vic­tory over Ma­son Had­den and Ry­lan Cochran.

Against South­east, Peace beat Brett Buck­ner, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 sin­gles, while Grayson de­feated Seth Bar­nett, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2 sin­gles. Kilgo made it a sin­gles sweep with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 win over Cody Bishop.

The Raiders won at No. 1 dou­bles as Richard­son and Bone fell to Porter John­son and Josiah Hasty, 6-2, 6-2. How­ever, Terry and Nick Dar­ling came back to beat Kade Len­tych and Jar­rod Wright, 6-2, 6-1, to close out a 4-1 win.

Then on Thurs­day, Her­itage earned an­other 4-1 vic­tory. On the boys’ side, Grayson claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win. Kilgo won his match, 6-0, 6-2, and Austin Long picked up a 6-3, 7-6 (3) vic­tory. The team of Terry and Dar­ling scored a 6-4, 6-1 win.
