Lady Eagles drop openers

The Oakwood Christian Lady Eagles begin the 2018 softball season - the second season in program history - on Tuesday afternoon in Chattanoog­a with a pair of five-inning games against the Silverdale Baptist Academy junior varsity team.

The Lady Eagles were beaten 13-0 in the

opener and they lost a 9-2 decision in the nightcap.

Eighth-grader Maggie Heard had the only hit for the Lady Eagles and game one, a double, while Annika Green drew two walks and scored once in Game 2. Lily Green had a walk and scored a run.

On Friday, the Lady Eagles rallied from a 4-0 deficit to take a 5-4 lead, but an 11-run fifth by host Boyd-Buchanan would break a 5-5 tie and end the game.

Due to newspaper deadlines, details on the Lady Eagles’ game at Lookout Valley on Monday were also not available as of press time.

The Lady Eagles will play at Grace Academy at 7 p.m. on Friday.
