BUSINESS • The Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce will host the Showcase Catoosa Business Expo on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at The Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold. The public is invited, at no charge, to attend the Showcase Catoosa Business Expo, where there will be more than 80 exhibitors. There will be food samples, booths, shopping, door prizes, silent auction items, and more. The grand door prize will be two roundtrip airlines tickets from Chattanooga donated by Chattanooga Airport. ARTS • Opening reception through Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Ringgold Art & Frame for “Impressions of Monet’s Garden,” artworks inspired from a painting trip to Giverny, France, home of Impressionist Claude Monet. 5-7 p.m. Free. Local artist Durinda Cheek led eight painters on a week of plein air painting (in the open air) in France. Participants include Sandra Babb, Ringgold; Dorothy Powell, Dalton; Susan Miller, Mcdonald, Tenn.; Joyce Jones, Chattanooga; Jo Thomas, Vermont; Judy Rogers, Indiana; and Emi Anamizu, Hawaii. Artworks available include oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, and stained glass. Show will continue through Oct. 31.

CHURCH • First Baptist Church, located at 2645 Lafayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, will hold its Fall Rummage Sale on Friday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in front of the CERT garage in the campus backyard. Sale

CHURCH • The Women’s Ministry at First Baptist Church, located at 2645 Lafayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, will hold a Heavenly Homemade & Vendor Fair in the church fellowship hall on Friday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sale items will include unique homemade crafts, baked goods perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday and items by local vendors. The public is urged to come and purchase one or many items for Thanksgiving or for Christmas presents. Proceeds will go toward FBC Women’s Ministry Free to Be Campaign and missions. COMMUNITY • The Friends of the Gordon-lee Mansion conduct tours of the historic Mansion in Chickamauga from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays through Labor Day. Admission is $5 adults and $1 for 12 and under. All proceeds go to the Friends of the
Gordon-lee Mansion, a 501c3 organization, for preservation of this antebellum home and its grounds.

COMMUNITY •A secure drug drop box has been installed at the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department and is available from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. to safely dispose of unused or expired medications. Drop boxes are now available at the Catoosa County Sheriff’s, the Rossville Police and the Fort Oglethorpe Police departments.
EDUCATION • The Walker County School District is attempting to identify all children in their school system that are residents of Walker County and may be in need of special education services. COMMUNITY • Rossville Community Ministries, a ministry of Rossville area churches, is a food pantry to help families or individuals in the Rossville area. Nonperishable food items, cash donations and volunteers are needed. The Rossville Community Ministries is open Mondays and Thursdays from noon until 3 p.m. They are at South Rossville Baptist Church, 101 East Peachtree Street. CHURCH • Lee’s Chapel Community Church located at 3253 Catoosa Parkway, Tunnel Hill, is holding Sunday services at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The church is holding a monthly singing to raise the money to repair the church. Singings will be the second Saturday of the month.
