Her­itage teams start out 3-1 as Re­gion 6-AAAA play starts this week

The Her­itage Lady Gen­er­als opened play in the 2018 Ridge­land Thanks­giv­ing Clas­sic with a 63-48 vic­tory over Coahulla Creek on Satur­day, Nov. 17.

Down 25-23 at in­ter­mis­sion, the Lady Gen­er­als would outscore the Lady Colts, 40-23, in the sec­ond half to rally for the win.

Emily Wiley had 26 points for Her­itage, while Ans­ley Bice dropped in 20. Rea­gan Ar­mour fin­ished with 11 points. Ha­ley Phillips had three points, Ellie Jost added two, while Gra­cie Murray had one.

Her­itage led 30-23 at half­time last Mon­day and was able to hold the lead down the stretch as they de­feated Murray County, 60-55, at the Ridge­land Thanks­giv­ing Clas­sic.

Wiley fin­ished with 24 points for Her­itage. She was 11-of-13 from the free throw line and 8-of-8 from the char­ity stripe in the fourth quar­ter. Bice fin­ished with 14 points, while Ar­mour had 11. Murray and Sydney St. John had four points apiece, while Phillips fin­ished with three.

Af­ter three straight wins to be­gin the new sea­son, the Lady Gen­er­als (3-1) fi­nally tasted de­feat on Wed­nes­day with a 55-48 loss to Chat­tanooga Notre Dame on the fi­nal night of the Ridge­land Thanks­giv­ing Clas­sic.

In­di­vid­ual scor­ing had not been pro­vided as of press time.

Like their fe­male coun­ter­parts, the Gen­er­als won their first two games at the Clas­sic, but would also lose to Notre Dame this past Wed­nes­day to fall to 3-1 on the sea­son.

Her­itage opened the tour­na­ment with a 62-41 vic­tory over Coahulla Creek. Down 15-14 at the end of the first quar­ter, the Navy-and-red outscored the Colts 21-4 in the sec­ond quar­ter.

Cooper Terry drained five of the Gen­er­als’ nine 3-point­ers and fin­ished the night with a game-high 17 points. Will Allen had 15 points, fol­lowed by Nolan Let­z­gus with 11 and Kobe Mcal­lis­ter with 10.

On Mon­day, Her­itage scored 23 first-quar­ter points and needed all of them as they sur­vived a 62-57 tus­sle with Murray County.

Mcal­lis­ter had a team-high 17 points for the Gen­er­als. Terry drained three 3-point­ers and fin­ished with 15 points, while Caden Sny­der had nine points on a trio of treys. Allen and Let­z­gus each fin­ished with seven points. Walker Spruiell had five, while Nick Han­son and Cade Kiniry added two each.

Then on Wed­nes­day, Her­itage fell to the Ir­ish, 55-39. In­di­vid­ual statis­tics were un­avail­able as of press time.

Her­itage was slated to open Re­gion 6-AAAA play on Tues­day with a home dou­ble­header against Pick­ens be­fore wel­com­ing Lafayette to Boyn­ton on Fri­day night. On Satur­day, Her­itage will head to Chicka­mauga for non-re­gion games against Gordon Lee.
