- From press release

The Chattanooga Mocs softball program and head coach Frank Reed will welcome four newcomers to the 2019-20 roster next season after recently completing the 2019 signing class.

Chattanooga adds a pair of middle infielders in Jenice and Janessa Casanas, who are sisters from Miami, Fla. In addition, the program welcomes pitcher Brooke Sudduth, Wartrace, Tenn., and outfielder Kendal Andrews, Murfreesboro, Tenn. Sudduth also carries family ties to the UTC program with her sister, Bailey, currently sitting on the active roster.

Sudduth will enroll at UTC after completing a great career at Cascade High School in Wartrace, Tenn. The 5-foot-8 pitcher has accumu- lated a 68-18 record, an impressive 0.80 ERA and 903 strikeouts in 557 innings pitched during her first three seasons. In addition, she carries a career .408 batting average with 21 homeruns and 102 RBIS in 287 at-bats.

The Casanas sisters come to Chattanooga from Coral Reef High School and the Diamond Dusters softball club based in Miami, Fla., the first Sunshine State Mocs since Jenny Garcia in 2015.

Janessa was named to the All-dade 9A-7A first team as an infielder in 2017, batting .413 with 27 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. Jenice earned All-dade 9A-7A honorable mention honors for her play in the outfield including a two-homer performance in a regional quarterfinal win.

Andrews resides in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and has excelled during her freshman-junior seasons at Blackman High School. For her career, Andrews has batted .428 with 25 doubles, 11 homeruns, 58 RBI in 264 at-bats while adding 41 stolen bases in 52 attempts. She earned a spot on the Murfreesboro Post’s All-county team in 2018.

“We’re very excited about this class,” said Reed. “It really fills the needs in all the areas on the field with middle infielders Jenice and Janessa, an outfielder in Kendall, and a pitcher in Brooke. Each one of them brings unique abilities to our softball program.”

Chattanooga softball kicks off the season on Feb. 8, 2019 with a matchup against Ohio University at the Kennesaw State Invitational. Season tickets and single game tickets will go on sale Dec. 3 on Gomocs.com.
