Ring­gold girls en­joy strong 6-AAA start

The first week of the Re­gion 6-AAA sched­ule is in the books and it couldn’t have gone much bet­ter for the Ring­gold Lady Tigers as they won back-to­back road games at Adairsville and at state-ranked Sono­rav­ille.

Ring­gold got a 17-point, 16-re­bound dou­ble-dou­ble from Rachel Ak­ers on Tues­day as they pulled away in the fourth quar­ter to win 59-51 at Adairsville. The Lady Tigers led 30-20 at half­time, but saw the home team rally to tie the score at 40 apiece go­ing into the fi­nal quar­ter. How­ever, Ring­gold would put up 19 points over the fi­nal eight min­utes to pull away for the win.

Fresh­man Rachel Lopez had 12 points, in­clud­ing a 6-of-8 per­for- mance at the free throw line. She also had four steals and dished out four as­sists. Riley Nayadley had 10 points and eight boards, while Shelby Cole had six points, five as­sists and five steals.

Four points each from Syd­ney Pittman, Addi Broome and Faith Bryson, along with two points from Baileigh Pitts, rounded out the scor­ing for Ring­gold.

Sono­rav­ille, the No. 9-ranked team in Class AAA ac­cord­ing to Score At­lanta, wel­comed the Lady Tigers to town on Fri­day. How­ever, Ring­gold built a 30-19 ad­van­tage at half­time and held off the home team to score an im­pres­sive 58-54 vic­tory as they moved to 4-1 over­all and 2-0 in 6-AAA.
