Gor­don Lee teams fall to Class AAAA foes

The Gor­don Lee Tro­jans found them­selves tied with the Lafayette Ram­blers at half­time last Tues­day, but the Or­ange-and-black would dom­i­nate the third quar­ter en route to a 55-36 vic­tory in south Walker County.

Tied 21-21 at the break, Lafayette outscored Gor­don Lee 24-9 in the de­ci­sive third pe­riod.

Justin Wooden drained five 3-point­ers and had a game-high 17 points for the Tro­jans in the loss. Wi­ley Hem­ing added nine points, fol­lowed by Jake Poin­dex­ter with four and Robert Napier and We­ston Bea­gles who had three points each.

Back at home on Satur­day, the Tro­jans watched vis­it­ing Her­itage pull away in the fourth quar­ter for a 50-38 vic­tory in the mati­nee. One of the dif­fer­ences came be­hind the arc. Gor­don Lee hit five 3-point­ers, com­pared to nine for the Gen­er­als.

Sam Nor­ton paced Gor­don Lee (1-4) with 10 points. Robert Napier fin­ished with eight and Wooden had seven.

Last Tues­day’s girls’ game saw Lafayette claim a 48-38 win over the Lady Tro­jans. In­di­vid­ual scor­ing for Gor­don Lee had not been pro­vided as of press time.

On Satur­day, the Lady Tro­jans dropped a 51-33 de­ci­sion to Her­itage. Ad­di­son Stur­di­vant had a team-high 12 points for Gor­don Lee (0-6), while Sadie Ga­s­away and Gra­cie O’neal had seven points apiece.
