Gordon Lee teams fall to Class AAAA foes

The Gordon Lee Trojans found themselves tied with the Lafayette Ramblers at halftime last Tuesday, but the Orange-and-black would dominate the third quarter en route to a 55-36 victory in south Walker County.

Tied 21-21 at the break, Lafayette outscored Gordon Lee 24-9 in the decisive third period.

Justin Wooden drained five 3-pointers and had a game-high 17 points for the Trojans in the loss. Wiley Heming added nine points, followed by Jake Poindexter with four and Robert Napier and Weston Beagles who had three points each.

Back at home on Saturday, the Trojans watched visiting Heritage pull away in the fourth quarter for a 50-38 victory in the matinee. One of the difference­s came behind the arc. Gordon Lee hit five 3-pointers, compared to nine for the Generals.

Sam Norton paced Gordon Lee (1-4) with 10 points. Robert Napier finished with eight and Wooden had seven.

Last Tuesday’s girls’ game saw Lafayette claim a 48-38 win over the Lady Trojans. Individual scoring for Gordon Lee had not been provided as of press time.

On Saturday, the Lady Trojans dropped a 51-33 decision to Heritage. Addison Sturdivant had a team-high 12 points for Gordon Lee (0-6), while Sadie Gasaway and Gracie O’neal had seven points apiece.
