Middle School Girls’ Basketball: Ringgold, Heritage flying high

The Ringgold Lady Tigers got 15 points from Hannah Scott and 13 from Emily Love in a 34-31 victory over Red Bud this past Tuesday.

Shelby Kaylor and Aubrey Lakin had two points apiece, while Tahj Griggs and Riley Burdette each added one point.

Then on Thursday, Ringgold jumped out to a 17-4 lead after one period and coasted to a 46-15 victory over Rossville.

Love had 13 points as every player from Ringgold got into the scoring column. Burdette had five points. Scott, Griggs, Riley Heard and Cady Helton had four points each. Lakin and Allie Massengale finished with three points each, while Kaylor, River Lowery and Kelsey Davis added two apiece.

Heritage opened last week with a 30-12 win over Gordon Lee. Lauren Mock had a game-high nine points for the Lady Gen- erals, followed by Aaliyah Rodgers and Dayonna Perryman with six each. Macie Collins and Katy Thompson had four points apiece, while Mia Callahan added one.

For the Lady Trojans, Emma Phillips led the way with four points, while Ava Brown, Riley Shirley and Kaitlyn Wagoner had two each.

Two nights later, Heritage picked up a 44-33 victory over Saddle Ridge in an NGAC divisional clash in Rock Spring.

The visitors jumped out to a 27-14 lead at the break and staved off a Saddle Ridge rally in the second half. The Lady Mustangs would trim the deficit down to nine points early in the fourth quarter, but never got any closer.

Haynie Gilstrap scored 13 of her 17 points in the fourth period for Saddle Ridge and finished with five rebounds. Fantasja Barber added 14 points with three 3-pointers, three rebounds, and
