LFO boys claim county showdown

The LFO boys enjoyed a big 54-37 home win over Catoosa County rival Ringgold on Friday night. The Warriors erased an early 6-0 deficit with a 10-0 first-quarter run and never trailed again.

Cameron Gregg and Jacob King hit back-to-back 3-pointers early in the second quarter to help give the Warriors a 23-14 lead at the break. The Tigers would trim LFO’S lead down to five points in the third quarter. However, a 15-2 run in the first 4:30 of the fourth quarter would erase any hopes of a Ringgold comeback.

Gregg and King both had 16 points for the Warriors. Gregg finished with five 3-pointers on the night. Ruddy Ware had nine points. Deandre Rowe finished with five. Zach Coots had four, while Riley Mosier and Robbie Henry scored two apiece.

LFO was not able to maintain the momentum on Saturday as they dropped a 56-47 decision at North Murray. The Warriors battled back to cut what had been a 20-point deficit down to three with a minute to play, but got no closer.

The home team enjoyed a huge advantage at the free throw line as they connected on 20-of-28 attempts, com- pared to just 9-of-14 for the Warriors.

Gregg led LFO with 13 points. Ware had 11 and Coots picked up 10. King had eight points and Rowe scored five to round out the scoring for the Warriors (4-4, 3-2).

The Lady Warriors would battle the Region 6-AAA leaders tooth-and-nail on Friday, using 3-pointers by Alesya Mcburnett and Milijah Williams in the final 90 seconds to grab a 52-51 lead. But a pair of free throws would get the lead back for Ringgold and the Lady Tigers would make a final defensive stand to secure the victory.

Williams led LFO with 16 points, while Macey Gregg finished with 15. Mcburnett ended the night with nine, followed by Anna Rountree with five, Madison Stookey with three and Dekeia Rowe and Gabby Ware with two each.

But one night later, the Lady Warriors would endured a cold shooting night in Chatsworth as they fell to North Muray, 57-26, to drop to 2-6 overall in 1-4 in region play.

Williams had 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Lady Warriors. Gregg scored five points. Erie Stookey had four, followed by Rountree and Mcburnett with two each. Ware chipped in with one.
