Ringgold’s run ends at hands of Hart County
The 2019 season was another outstanding season for the Ringgold High School baseball program. Unfortunately for the Blue-and-white and their fan base, it was an outstanding season that ended much too soon.
After taking Game 1 over Hart County last Wednesday, the visiting Bulldogs came back to Bill Womack Field on Thursday and knocked off the Region 6 champion Tigers two straight times to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Class 3A state playoffs.
Ringgold saw its season end with a sterling 27-8 overall record. disbelief of everyone wearing blue and white.
Ringgold would answer with what appeared at first to be three runs in the bottom of the inning. Wyatt Tennant doubled to lead off the inning, took third base on a wild pickoff attempt and was awarded home when the throw to third landed in the Tigers’ dugout.
Later in the frame, with a runner at first, Tarver stepped to the plate and promptly swatted a homerun over the rightfield wall. However, the Bulldogs appealed, saying the lead runner failed to touch home plate and the appeal was upheld, resulting in a run being taken off the board and leaving the game tied, 2-2.
Daulton Schley would officially give the Tigers the lead in the bottom of the third on an Rbi-double and Ringgold starter Holden Tucker added to the lead with a solo homer to lead off the fifth. But in the top of the sixth, Hart got a leadoff single from Luke Lee before Chase Dalton belted a two-run shot to knot the game at 4-4.
In the seventh, Hart got out one before going to their bullpen. Ethan Jones was called in to replace starter Casey Tallent, who was right at his pitch limit, and Jones was immediately
