A total of six Ringgold players were named to the first team, four more were voted on as second team players and one more was named to the honorable mention list.

Ringgold earned one of the region’s top two individual honors as senior Kaylee Phillips was named as the Region Pitcher of the Year. Phillips went 23-3 this fall for the Lady Tigers with a 1.88 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 167.1 innings pitched.

She was joined on the first team by senior outfielder Shelby Cole (.354, 9 HR, 35 RBIS), junior outfielder Amber Gainer (.364, 4 HR, 17 RBIS), junior third baseman

Jade Gainer (.394, 5 HR, 28 RBIS), junior shortstop Riley Nayadley (.479, 4 HR, 38 RBIS) and sophomore catcher Baileigh Pitts (.362, 2 HR, 21 RBIS).

Second team members included junior second baseman Caroline Hemphill, sophomore first baseman Addi Broome, sophomore catcher Ava Raby and sophomore outfielder Taylor Layne, while senior pitcher Taylor Thomas was voted to the honorable mention list.

Nayadley finished runner-up in Region Player of the Year voting behind Calhoun’s Lyndi Rae Davis. The Lady Jackets’ catcher led the region with a .502 batting average and was first in 6-AAA in homeruns (13), RBIS (39), onbase percentage (.617) and slugging percentage (1.000). Her 35 runs scored were the second-most in the region and her 13 homers led the entire state in Class 3A.

LFO had six players named to the all-star squad. Junior outfielder Morgan Richey (.470, 25 runs scored, 19 stolen bases) and junior pitcher Haley Stahl (.408, 3 HR, 19 RBIS, 1.77 ERA, 134.1 innings, 87 strikeouts) were first-team selections. Senior second baseman Keelie Mauk and freshman third baseman Julie Shore were named to the second team, while senior outfielder Shelby Houts and senior first baseman Maddy Adkins were honorable mention selections.

Broom, Cole and senior Rachel Akers were named to the region’s All-academic team from Ringgold, while LFO’S selections included Mauk, Stahl and Shore.

?? ?? A 23-3 record and a 1.88 ERA was enough to make Ringgold senior Kaylee Phillips the 2019 Region 6-AAA Pitcher of the Year.
