The Ringgold Tigers picked up two much-needed Region 6-AAA victories with a sweep of Adairsville last week.

Ringgold entered the new week fighting LFO, Sonoraville and Coahulla Creek for the No. 2 seed and the first-round home playoff series that comes with it. Rockmart has already clinched the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.

RINGGOLD 4, ADAIRSVILLE 1

Connor Christopher led off the first game of the series last Tuesday with a triple and scored on a Brady Hermann sacrifice fly.

It would be the only run of the game until the fifth inning when Hermann and Mason Parker drew two-out walks. Hermann stole third and scored on a passed ball as Parker moved up to second. Then, following another walk, a pair of wild pitches got Parker home to make it 3-0.

Ringgold picked up one final insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Sam Crew was issued a walk and moved all the way to third base on a single by Brody Gann before trotting home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dawsyn Ware.

Adairsville got a two-out Rbi-single in the top of the seventh to end the shutout and no-hit bid.

Ross Norman pitched six innings of hitless ball, walking three and striking out 12. He was charged with the run, though it was unearned. Parker got the save. He gave up the one hit and struck out three batters in his inning of relief.

RINGGOLD 8, ADAIRSVILLE 4

The Tigers needed nine innings to finally win on the road this past Thursday. The Blue-and-white collected 15 hits and drew four walks, but found themselves tied 4-4 after the home team scored three times in the bottom of the sixth.

Both teams put runners at first and second in the seventh, but were unable to score, while both teams had a runner reach base in the eighth. Adairsville’s runner was erased by a timely double play from the Ringgold defense.

However, the top of the ninth begin with a walk by Christopher, a sacrifice bunt by Hermann and an Rbi-single from Parker to put the visiting Tigers in the lead.

Norman followed up with an Rbi-double and Ty Gilbert drew a walk before taking second without a throw shortly thereafter. Then with two outs, Dre Morris delivered a clutch two-run single to increase Ringgold’s lead to four.

Mason Burt retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to record the victory in relief. He pitched 2.2 innings of no-hit ball, walking two and striking out four.

Robbie Bates got the start and went 6.1 innings. He allowed four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts, while none of the four runs he allowed were earned.

Parker was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIS and three runs scored. Norman doubled twice and drove in two runs. Crew had a double as one of his two hits and he also collected an RBI. Gann and Ware were each 2 for 4 at the plate with Hermann also knocking in a run.

Ringgold began a two-game series with North Murray this past Friday, which was slated to be completed on Tuesday of this week. Coverage of those games can be found on our website.
