PITTS EARNS SOCON HONOR

Chattanooga's Baileigh Pitts was named the Southern Conference Softball Player of the Week the league office announced last Monday.

Pitts, a Ringgold High alum, started all three games against UNC Greensboro in left field. She went 6-for-12 (.500) during the previous weekend, helping Chattanooga retain its spot at the top of the SoCon standings. She recorded a double, a home run and a sacrifice fly and finished with seven RBIS in

the series.

In the opening game on Saturday, Pitts went 4-for4 with four RBIS. She was a triple shy of the cycle, leading off with a single in the second, adding an Rbi-double in the third, belting a solo home run in the fifth and collecting a two-rbi single in the sixth to put the Mocs up 6-3 for the win.

She drove in the Mocs' second run in a 6-5, nine-inning victory in the second game on Saturday. Pitts added a pair of RBIS in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. She grounded out to third, driving in the Mocs' second run of the game, while her single to centerfield in the fifth gave UTC a 4-1 lead.

This is the second Socon Player of the Week honor for Pitts this year and the third for Chattanooga. She previously won the award on March 4, while shortstop Kailey Snell took the honor on April 1.
