CHAR­LOTTE — Glo­ria Holmes Long, age 94, of South­ern Pines, NC died Jan­uary 10, 2019. Born Oc­to­ber 1, 1924 in Char­lotte, NC, she was the daugh­ter of Ralph Tur­biville Holmes and An­nie Hin­son Holmes. Mrs. Long grad­u­ated from Statesville High School, at­tended Mitchell Col­lege in Statesville, NC and grad­u­ated from Salem Col­lege in Win­ston- Salem, NC. She mar­ried the late For­rest Bat­tle Long in 1949.

Mrs. Long was a gifted in­te­rior dec­o­ra­tor and owner of Glo­ria Long In­te­ri­ors of Char­lotte. She served the dec­o­rat­ing needs of many Char­lot­teans for over 30 years. Mrs. Long was a long- time sup­porter and vol­un­teer of the March of Dimes.

Mrs. Long is sur­vived by her daugh­ter, Ann (Bill) and son, For­rest ( Jane).

A ser­vice to cel­e­brate Mrs. Long’s life will be held at 2 pm on Tues­day, Jan­uary 15, 2019 at Christ Church Angli­can, 750 Fair­way Drive, South­ern Pines, NC with the Rev­erend John L. Sharpe of­fi­ci­at­ing.

The grave­side ser­vice and burial will be held at Ev­er­green Ceme­tery, 4426 Cen­tral Av­enue, Char­lotte, NC on Satur­day, Jan­uary 19 at 2 pm.

In lieu of f low­ers, me­mo­ri­als may be sent to Christ Church Angli­can, 750 Fair­way Dr., South­ern Pines, NC 28387.
