Misericordia won its opening game of the NCAA Division III Tournament, 3-1, over Rowan on Saturday at Johns Hopkins.
Ashley Edgell had two goals and Jeanna Orfanos also scored for the Cougars, who advanced to play in the next round at 6 p.m. today against the host school.
Wilkes 2, Mount St. Mary 0 At Springfield, Karyna Vargas and Jessica Egan scored to lead the Colonels to a win in the ECAC tournament.
Grove City eliminated Wilkes in the first round of the ECAC tournament on Saturday with a 3-0 win.
Tim Gallagher made eight saves for the Colonels, who finished 8-9-1.
Misericordia’s Clare Schoen qualified for the NCAA Championships with a fourth-place finish (22:48) on Saturday at Desales in the Mideast Regional.
On the men’s side, Alex Fitch led the Cougars in 45th.
Wilkes’ Nicholas Bauer (125 pounds), Jessie Lopez (141) and Nicholas Racanelli (165) all won championships on Saturday at the Gettysburg Invitational.
At Immaculata, Rachel Carmody had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Misericordia to a 74-54 win in its season opener.
