Frank P. Sromovski, of Wilkes-barre Twp., passed Away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, surrounded by his family, At his home.
Born Aug. 23, 1925, in Wilkes-barre, he was A son of the late John And Mary Stefus Sromovski.
Frank was A graduate of Wilkes-barre Twp. High School And Wilkes College.
He, Along with his late wife, owned And operated Frank’s Market in WilkesBarre Twp. for many years.
Frank was An U.S. Army veteran of World WAR II, serving in the North Appennines, Po Valley, Rhineland And in Air combat in the Balkans. He was Awarded the World WAR II Victory Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, And Air Medal with two Bronze Stars.
He was Also A member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 302, Wilkes-barre, As A fourth degree knight; St. Nicholas Church, WilkesBarre, After the closing of St. Joseph’s Church, WilkesBarre Twp.; American Legion Post 815, WilkesBarre Twp.; And the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lani Post 6325, Wilkes-barre.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel I. Sromovski, on March 22, 2015; son, Frank; grandson, Thomas Hynes; son-in-law, Patrick Delaney; brothers, John, Andrew, Joseph, Anthony And Michael Sromovski; sisters, Mary Waschilla, Catherine Elick And Rose Gelsleichter.
Surviving Are daughters, Carol Ann Hynes And her husband, Harry, WilkesBarre Twp.; Patricia Gurnari And her husband, Anthony, Edwardsville; And Mary Beth Delaney, Wilkes-barre Twp.; sons, Paul And his wife, Sharon, Wilkes-barre Twp.; Frank Jr. And his wife, Linda, Wilkes-barre Twp.; Donald And his wife, Vicki, Bear Creek Twp.; Michael And Joseph, both of Wilkes-barre Twp.; And David And his wife, Debra, Ponte Vedra, FLA.; 29 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; And one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held At 9:30 A.m. on Monday from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-barre, with A Mass of Christian Burial At 10 A.m. At St. Nicholas Church, S. Washington St., Wilkes-barre. Monsignor Joseph Verespy, pastor, will be celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
