Flugge tune to be played
In remembrance of jazz pianist and composer Mark Flugge, who died on Sunday, a composition he wrote for the chimes at Trinity Episcopal Church will be played at 12:02 p.m. daily through June 11.
Flugge was one of 12 musicians commissioned by a public art project, Finding Time: ColumbusPublic Art2012, to write new works for the chimes at the Downtown church at E. Broad and 3rd streets. Musicians in various genres created works played by carillonneur Nick Tepe. Flugge’s six-minute work, Faith, premiered in July 2012.
Flugge died at age 52 after a two-year battle with a debilitating hearing condition.
Series on Sam planned
The OWN network will produce a documentary series about St. Louis Rams football player Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted in the NFL.
The series will follow Sam as he prepares for a pro football career and tries to make the Rams roster, said the network, jointly owned by Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications.
The Rams selected Sam, 24, last week in the seventh round of the NFL draft — three months after the defensive end from the University of Missouri came out publicly.
A start date for the series, a title and the number of episodes that OWN plans to carry were not announced.
Couple lead BET nods

Chris Rock will host the awards, to be shown live on June 29 from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
Beyonce will compete twice for video of the year with the songs Partition and Drunk in Love, which features Jay Z. Her competition: Williams’ Happy, Drake’s Worst Behavior and Chris Brown’s Fine China.
