Big Walnut stuns Orange in closing seconds

Big Walnut 61, Olentangy Orange 59, OT: Kyle Gose’s steal and layup as time expired capped a four-point flurry in less than three seconds for Big Walnut, which stunned visiting Olentangy Orange in overtime last night in an Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division game.

With the Eagles (5-7, 2-4) trailing 59-57, Josh Seabrook pulled down an offensive rebound and made a shot with 2.5 seconds to tie the score. Gose then stole the inbound pass and put in the winning basket.

Gose led the Eagles with 16 points. Seabrook, who had 10 rebounds, was one of three Big Walnut players with 11 points.

Grant Gossard had 16 points for Orange (5-6, 2-4), which led by eight to start the fourth quarter and missed a three-pointer at the end of regulation. Eastmoor Academy 70, MarionFran­klin 64: Jalen Lewis had 18 points and made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch, and host Eastmoor Academy (7-7, 6-2) held off Marion-Franklin (2-9, 1-7) in the City League South Division. The Warriors, who led by eight at halftime, pulled away after trailing by two midway in the fourth. Parell Tyler led the Red Devils with 22 points. Canal Winchester 86, Westervill­e North 75, OT: Visiting Canal Winchester (9-4, 3-3) rallied from an eight-point, fourth-quarter deficit and went on to defeat OCC Cardinal foe Westervill­e North (6-5, 3-3) in overtime. Andre Bradley (14 points) had six points in OT, as did Seth McCoy (13), who was 10 of 10 from the line, including six in overtime. Brendan Snyder led the Indians with 25 points, Corey Benton had 24 for Westervill­e North. Thomas Worthingto­n 42, Hilliard Davidson 41: Jaret Gerber’s three-pointer with six seconds remaining lifted Thomas Worthingto­n (4-6, 3-3) to a comefrom-behind victory over host Hilliard Davidson (4-7, 3-3) in the OCC Central. Gerber’s basket capped a rally from a 35-25 deficit early in the fourth quarter. Nick Veal had 10 of his 18 points in the fourth, including two three-pointers to help the Cardinals go on a 17-7 run to close the game. Mike Simon had 12 points for Davidson. Newark 68, Reynoldsbu­rg 60: Jordan Dartis scored 10 of his 21 points from the line, and Newark (9-3, 5-1), which led by 16 early in the fourth quarter, defeated host Reynoldsbu­rg (7-5, 3-3) in the OCC Ohio. DeSales 36, Watterson 33: Reed Norris hit a three-pointer as time expired and DeSales (10-6, 3-1) rallied to beat host Watterson (6-5, 2-2) in a Central Catholic League game.
