Ikea store to provide 3 car-charging spots

COLUMBUS — Swedish homefurnis­hing retailer Ikea will install three electric-vehicle charging stations at its Columbus store that is set to open this summer.

The installati­on is part of a partnershi­p between Ikea and Car Charging Group, the owner of the Blink Network and Blink electric-vehicle charging stations. There are electric-vehicle charging units at 16 Ikea stores in the United States.

To charge an electric vehicle at Ikea Columbus, drivers will tap their Blink InCard to the reader below the screen, initiate the session directly from the Blink Mobile applicatio­n, or use

a guest code provided via the Blink Mobile app, www.BlinkCode.com, or Blink customer support at 888-998-2546.

Once the session is initiated, drivers can plug the charger into the station, then shop and eat in the store while the vehicle is charging.

Consumers can become a Blink member for free and typically receive discounted charging fees at Blink’s thousands of public charging stations in 36 states and two countries. More informatio­n is available at blinknetwo­rk.com.

NPC, based in Kansas, has been buying up Wendy’s locations for several years and will, with this acquisitio­n, own 246. NPC plans to upgrade many of the stores with Wendy’s new Image Activation design, according to a press release. NPC paid $52.6 million for the stores, which were owned by Valenti Mid-Atlantic Management.

NPC has more than 1,100 Pizza Hut stores in 27 states.

It will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday in the training center at White Castle System Headquarte­rs, 555 W. Goodale St.

The program is aimed at leaders of family-owned businesses. Joyce Waters of Johnson Investment Counsel will lead a panel discussion with Steve Harmon of Spartan Logistics and Steve Arnold of The Strait and Lamp Group.
