Eastmoor defense stymies Fairfield Union

Eastmoor Academy held Fairfield Union scoreless in the fourth quarter and pulled away for a 55-37 victory Thursday night in a Division II regional semifinal at Ohio University's Convocatio­n Center.

Nursing a 42-37 lead, the Warriors held the Falcons to 0-of-10 shooting from the field in the fourth to take command. Eastmoor (21-6) will face Vinton County (24-2) in the regional final at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Convocatio­n Center.

Taevion Kinsey had 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals to pace Eastmoor, which jumped to a 16-6 lead on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and never trailed. Kinsey hit a shot from beyond midcourt to give Eastmoor a 30-16 halftime lead. Tim Smith added 13 points and Tariq Brown 12. Stanley Williams had nine rebounds.

Fairfield Union (233), which was playing in its first regional game ever, rallied in the third quarter by hitting four three-pointers and going 7 of 8 overall. Lucas Thompson (four three-pointers) and Hayden Price scored 12 points each to lead the Falcons.

Speedy Dayton Dunbar (24-3) forced Bloom-Carroll (20-7) into 25 turnovers, dominated the boards and romped to a Division II regional semifinal win at Trent Arena in Kettering. The Wolverines, fivetime state champions, led 37-19 at halftime and opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run to put away the Bulldogs. Chris Jackson led three Dunbar players in double figures with 17 points. Gavin Brown had 13 points to pace Bloom-Carroll.
