Planned Parenthood is desperate

-

The March 10 letter “Replacement far from ‘patient-centered’” cries out for correction of some false information. According to letter writer Kermit Lancaster, “Many American women use Planned Parenthood for a variety of services including prenatal and postnatal care.” This claim is completely false. Planned Parenthood does not offer any prenatal care in its clinics.

I’m puzzled by the claim that it provides postnatal care — that is typically provided by a woman’s OB/ GYN. I think that he may be confusing postnatal care with post-abortion care — there is a difference.

In addition, we now have Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, repeating the false claim originally made by Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, that the agency provides mammograms. Richards had to publicly retract that lie that was made while testifying before Congress. No Planned Parenthood clinic in the United States owns a mammogram machine; it is only able to make referrals to non-PP providers for mammograms.

These intentional deceptions are a desperate attempt to legitimize the $500 million of our taxpayer funding (that’s half a billion dollars) that goes to Planned Parenthood. All of the services of Planned Parenthood, with the exception to abortions, may be found at other public-health clinics that do not perform abortions.

The desperation at PP losing the treasure trove of federal funding is responsible for these lies and deceptions to resurface while the muchneeded replacement for Obamacare is determined.
