“We did have a good start,” Tortorella said. “They score a goal and we lost ourselves. They turned it up. In these types of games, it’s which team is going to seize momentum. They did.
“I’m not going to pick it apart or go into a lot of talk about my team right now, because it’s so hard to judge it in these type of circumstances.”
Tortorella thinks the Blue Jackets’ struggles are simple: they clinched the playoff spot with 11 games remaining in the season, and all that matters now — subconciously — are the postseason games.
“It’s human nature,” he said.
But in the dressing room, the players aren’t so cavalier.
“(Today) is a big game for us,” Jones said. “It’s really big. You don’t want to go into the playoffs losing seven straight.
“I don’t have all the answers for you, but from top to bottom we have to be harder on pucks. We are not winning enough 50-50 battles.”
