Man found guilty in crash that killed fetus

Prosecuting and defense attorneys are recommending a three-year prison term for a man who caused a drunken-driving crash that ended a woman’s pregnancy.

Tony S. Muldrow, 39, pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated in the Aug. 13, 2016, crash on the East Side.

The maximum combined penalty for the offenses is 10 years, but the attorneys recommended a lesser sentence as part of a plea agreement. The conviction also will bring a mandatory driver’s license suspension, which can range from three years to a lifetime.

Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Jenifer French ordered a pre-sentencing investigation and scheduled sentencing for May 25.

Muldrow was driving south on South Hamilton Road when his GMC Yukon went left of center and slammed head-on into a northbound Honda Accord that was stopped at a traffic light in the left-turn lane at Dundee Avenue, said Assistant Prosecutor William Walton.

Muldrow drove off but was arrested when his SUV became disabled on the ramp to eastbound Interstate 70. His blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.186 percent, Walton said. It is illegal to drive at a level of 0.08 or above.

The passenger in the Honda, Ghislain Ngolo, 23, was injured, and the fetus she was carrying was killed. The driver of the car, Roseline Keni, 36, also was injured.

Muldrow will remain free on bond while awaiting sentencing.
