No. 1 Duke uses late run to pull away from In­di­ana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Marvin Ba­gley III fin­ished with 23 points and 10 re­bounds and Grayson Allen added 21 points to help No. 1 Duke get past pesky In­di­ana 91-81 on Wed­nes­day night in the Big Ten/ACC Chal­lenge.

It sure wasn’t easy for the Blue Devils (9-0), who needed a late 17-4 spurt to fi­nally pull away for their first true road win of the sea­son. Wen­dell Carter Jr. had 18 points and 12 re­bounds. in 27 min­utes and Bruce Brown Jr. added 16 points and nine re­bounds to help Mi­ami (6-0) beat host Min­nesota (7-1) in the Big Ten/ACC Chal­lenge.

Omer Yurt­seven had 19 points and 11 re­bounds, and host North Carolina State (6-2) held on to beat Penn State (6-2) in the ACC/Big Ten Chal­lenge. Auburn (5-1) passed its first true road test of the sea­son in con­vinc­ing fash­ion, beat­ing Day­ton (3-3) and snap­ping the Fly­ers’ 16-game home win streak. Day­ton fin­ished with 19 turnovers, and team cap­tain Josh Cun­ning­ham fouled out with just six points. Do­mini­can (4-2) routed Wright State-Lake (1-8). The Pan­thers shot 65 per­cent from the field in the first half and led 61-15 at half­time. Matt Doyle and Claude Chan­don­net each scored 18 points to lead host Deni­son (4-2, 1-0 North Coast Ath­letic Con­fer­ence) past Wooster (3-2, 1-1). Jor­dan Har­ris made a three-pointer with 1 sec­ond left to give host Adrian (2-1) a vic­tory over Cap­i­tal (2-2). The Cru­saders tied it at 52 on Austin Schreck’s layup with 3 sec­onds left. Joey Wein­gart­ner led Cap­i­tal with 18 points.

No. 6-ranked Ma­ri­etta (5-0, 1-0 Ohio Ath­letic Con­fer­ence) raced to a 51-24 half­time lead and cruised to win over host Ot­ter­bein (0-6, 0-1). Justin Carter led Ot­ter­bein with 20 points.


Arike Ogun­bowale scored 20 of her 32 points in the first half, and Notre Dame (7-0) cruised to a vic­tory over host Michi­gan (4-2). Notre Dame held Michi­gan stand­out Kate­lynn Fla­herty to 13 points, her first game un­der 20 points this sea­son.
