Blues score 4 times in 5-shot span, top Red Wings

DETROIT — The St. Louis Blues quickly made the most of their limited opportunit­ies.

Jaden Schwartz knocked home his own rebound and the Blues scored four times on only five shots on the way to beating the Detroit Red Wings 6-1 Saturday.

Vladimir Sobotka, Scottie Upshall, Jay Bouwmeeste­r, Brayden Schenn and Dmitrij Jaskin also had goals for the Blues in their third straight victory.

Frans Nielsen scored for Detroit, which has won just once in its last eight games.

Outshot 29-22, including an 11-4 margin during the first period, the Blues took advantage of some spectacula­r puck stopping from Jake Allen and some questionab­le goals against Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard to fashion a 4-0 lead through the first two periods.

RANGERS 5, DEVILS 2: Mats Zuccarello scored twice, Henrik Lundqvist stopped 26 shots and the New York Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils. Jimmy Vesey, Jesper Fast and Kevin Hayes also scored to help New York win for the 10th time in their last 11 at home. Rick Nash added two assists.

AVALANCHE 7, PANTHERS 3: Nathan MacKinnon and Alexander Kerfoot scored 41 seconds apart in the second period and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Florida Panthers to snap a four-game skid. Colin Wilson, Erik Johnson and Mikko Rantanen also had goals for the Avalanche.

MAPLE LEAFS 4, PENGUINS 3: Tyler Bozak scored two goals, and the Toronto Maple Leafs got off to a fast start in a victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Conner Brown and James van Riemsdyk scored in the first 1:42 of the game, and Bozak also scored in the first period. BRUINS 3, ISLANDERS 1:

Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk scored, Tuukka Rask stopped 30 shots and the Boston Bruins beat the New York Islanders. Danton Heinen added an empty-net goal, and Torey Krug and David Pastrnak each had two assists for the Bruins, who won for the eighth time in 10 games.

LIGHTNING 4, JETS 3, OT: Brayden Point scored 36 seconds into overtime and the Tampa Bay Lightning completed a perfect four-game homestand with a victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Point eluded a Winnipeg defender and put back a backhander past Connor Hellebuyck for the win.

OILERS 6, CANADIENS 2: Jujhar Khaira had a careerhigh two goals to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Mike Cammalleri, Milan Lucic, Oscar Klefbom and Yohann Auvitu also scored for the Oilers, who have won four of their last six. Laurent Brossoit stopped 22 shots.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS 5, STARS 3: David Perron, Reilly Smith and Brayden McNabb scored in a span of 3:37 during the second period, and the Vegas Golden Knights held off the Dallas Stars for their fourth straight victory. Dallas has lost three in a row following a five-game winning streak.
