Trump opponent is political hypocrite

-

I respond to the Associated Press article “Trump’s tweet attack angers Dems” in the Dec. 13 Dispatch, regarding President Donald Trump’s response to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s command to resign the presidency.

Politics is a brutal business. If you enter the arena, what you dish out you will get in return. Gillibrand has dished out plenty.

Where is Trump not accurate? Gillibrand did solicit campaign funds from Trump. She does take orders from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Bill Clinton? Gillibrand adored Clinton when she needed help campaigning in New York. Seems she just discovered him to be a sexual predator.

That is precisely the disloyalty identified by Trump. Now Gillibrand charges and convicts Trump of sexual misconduct. The accusers were known entities before the election. Trump voters judged their accusations lacking in merit to offset their preference for Trump over Hillary Clinton.

It’s Gillibrand’s congressional brethren who’ve earned condemnation. They paid $17 million to silence and settle with 268 victims of harassment and abuse by the U.S. Congress.

Has anyone brought an equivalent case against Trump? Don’t think so, even with Democratic operatives like Lisa Bloom offering bribes to make that happen.

If Gillibrand cares about (other) women, she should put on her big-girl panties and find some integrity. She should direct her moral outrage where it belongs — at her congressional comrades.

Until then, her staggering hypocrisy reveals her to be just another conniving, opportunistic politician. Athens
