Renewable energy needs more research
I was disturbed by the statistics presented in the Wednesday letter “Most can agree on renewable energy” from Cathy Cowan Becker. President Obama publicly stated that energy prices would “necessarily skyrocket” under his policies. Inexpensive energy is critical to the ability of our highwage country to compete in the global economy.
I join more than 32,000 scientists in recognizing that the scientific evidence overwhelmingly indicates that global warming is not caused by carbon dioxide. For most of the past 550 million years, carbon dioxide levels have been above 2,000ppm (present 380ppm) and peaked around 7,000ppm without causing global warming. Keep in mind that if the socalled feedback mechanism was legitimate, then previous heating and cooling periods would never have ended.
It will take a lot more research before renewables make any sense. Let’s keep up the research and also devote some resources to developing self-limiting thorium reactors.

There doesn’t seem to be any question that Page has Russian connections, but the committee seems more interested with questioning a partisan source used for discovering the truth about him. This seems like shooting the messenger.
Americans colluding with Russia to influence our political system for their advantage is the real issue. Those efforts in 2016 were to support Donald Trump’s candidacy for president, according to all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies.
The point is whether Americans colluded with Russia to win the presidency and thus committed treason. I trust the American justice system to pursue this more than the hyperpartisans in the House of Representatives.
