Konecny, Flyers surge past Rangers

NEW YORK — Travis Konecny scored the tiebreakin­g goal late in the second period and Flyers goaltender Alex Lyon made 25 saves in relief and the Philadelph­ia Flyers went on to down the New York Rangers 7-4 on Sunday.

Konecny’s 15th goal of the season at 15:40 of the second snapped a 4-4 tie as the surging Flyers won for the sixth time in seven games. Konecny also had two assists.

Claude Giroux and Jori Lehtera scored in the third to finish off the win, Lyon’s first in the NHL.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist allowed all seven goals.

Kevin Hayes, Rick Nash, Mats Zuccarello and Peter Holland scored for New York. Connor McDavid had his third hat trick of the season and Edmonton beat Colorado on the road to snap a six-game losing streak. McDavid has 11 goals in the past nine games and two hat tricks. His first two goals tied it, and the third was into an empty net with 1:26 left. He has five goals in two games against Colorado this season.

Taylor Hall scored on a rebound with 22 seconds left in overtime to lift New Jersey past Carolina on the road and extend his NHL-best points streak to 11 games. Keith Kinkaid stopped 40 shots, and Nico Hischier and Pavel Zacha added goals. Teuvo Teravainen and Jeff Skinner scored for Carolina.

Auston Matthews scored with 30.2 seconds left to push Toronto past Detroit on the road. Matthews took William Nylander’s pass and snapped a high shot into the roof of the net from a sharp angle for his 27th goal of the season, but just his fourth winner.

Kyle Connor scored twice, Blake Wheeler and Tyler Myers each had three assists and Winnipeg beat Florida at home.

Mikkel Boedker scored twice in San Jose’s four-goal first period and the Sharks beat Dallas at home for their fourth victory in five games. Joe Pavelski, Melker Karlsson and Justin Braun also scored for San Jose.
