Jayhawks rout ice-cold Sooners

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Devonte Graham had 23 points and seven assists, Malik Newman added 20 and No. 8 Kansas beat Oklahoma 104-74 on Monday night.

The Jayhawks (22-6, 11-4 Big 12) controlled things early, jumping out to a 10-0 lead less than four minutes into the game and forcing Lon Kruger to burn a timeout before the first media break. The Sooners (16-11, 6-9 Big 12) never recovered.

Kameron McGusty led the way for Oklahoma with 22 points while Jamuni McNeace added 18 in his first career start.

It was a cold shooting night for Trae Young, who missed 10 of his 13 shots. His 11 points were a season-low. He did have nine assists.

Kansas broke the 100point threshold for the first time since December as six Jayhawks scored in double figures.

Kevin Huerter scored 18 points and the Terrapins beat the Wildcats in Rosemont, Illinois, to snap a seven-game road losing streak. With Huerter leading the way, Maryland (19-11, 8-9) won on the road for the first time since Dec. 3 and handed Northweste­rn (15-14, 6-10) another difficult loss.

Women

Kristy Wallace scored 23 points and had seven assists as the Bears won its eighth consecutiv­e Big 12 championsh­ip with a win over the Longhorns in Austin, Texas. Wallace scored 14 in the third quarter and rescued Baylor (26-1, 16-0 Big 12) after Texas (22-5, 13-3) had started the second half with a charge and briefly held the lead. Wallace scored eight in a 14-5 run that allowed Baylor to take control of the game. Brooke McCarty led the Longhorns with 32 points.

Lexie Brown scored 30 points as the Blue Devils (21-7, 10-5 ACC) upset the Seminoles in Durham, North Carolina. Rebecca Greenwell added 22 points with six 3-pointers, and Leaonna Odom had 15 points to help Duke. Nicole Ekhomu had 15 points and AJ Alix had 13 points for Florida State (22-5, 10-4).
