Harris sparks Gahanna girls’ rally past Hartley
Anisja Harris scored nine of her 22 points in the fourth quarter as ninth-seeded Gahanna rallied to edge eighth-seeded Hartley 56-53 in a Division I girls district basketball semifinal Wednesday at Pickerington North.
Morgan Darnell had half of her 14 points in the 19-12 final period for the Lions (18-8), who will face Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division rival Reynoldsburg for the third time this season in the district title game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ohio Dominican.
Kennedy Taylor had 13 points in leading Hartley (17-5) to a 33-23 halftime lead, but the Miami University signee was injured in the third quarter and didn't return.
In other Division I district semifinal action:
Lauren Spicer scored four points in the final minute of overtime, helping Olentangy Liberty (14-11) outlast Eastmoor (16-7) at New Albany. Emma Humenay hit six threepointers and scored 20 points for the 23rd-seeded Patriots.
Uju Ezeudu scored 18 points, Mackenzie Davis 16 and Kyria Walker 14 as fourth-seeded Reynoldsburg (20-5) rolled over Big Walnut (17-7) at Westerville North.
Macy Spielman scored 21 points and Kileigh Casey 18 as seventh-seeded Upper Arlington (20-5) beat sixth-seeded Northland (21-4) at Olentangy Orange.
Fifth-seeded Westerville South (19-5) used a 20-7 third quarter to pull away from Canal Winchester (18-7) at Whitehall. Gabby Hutcherson (11 points) and Sommer Pitzer (10) led the Wildcats.
Katie Shumate totaled 17 points, five rebounds and two assists as topseeded Newark (24-1) crushed Watterson (16-9) at Westerville Central.
Jacy Sheldon scored 14 of her 24 points in a 24-8 third quarter, enabling second-seeded Dublin Coffman (24-1) to pull away from Lancaster (14-11) at Central Crossing.
Maliya Perry scored 16 points and third-seeded Pickerington Central (24-1) routed Davidson (13-12) at Hamilton Township.
Division IV
Four players scored between 10 and 12 points for second-seeded Berne Union (22-4) in a win over fourthseeded Danville (15-9) in a district semifinal at Lakewood.
Hope Custer totaled 20 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals to lift top-seeded Fairfield Christian (22-3) over Wellington (15-10) at Olentangy Orange. Celeste Mershimer added 15 points for the Knights.
