Westervill­e South pulls away from Kilbourne behind McMillian

Jordan McMillian scored 19 of his career-high 29 points in the second half, and host Westervill­e South used a big third-quarter run to repel Worthingto­n Kilbourne South 79-67 in a Division I district boys quarterfin­al Friday.

After Kilbourne took its first lead 40-39 midway through the third quarter, South (14-8) answered with a decisive 15-2 run to regain control. McMillian had nine of those points. The Wolves were unable to get within 10 after that. Ryan Greggs added 15 points for South.

Gavin Baker had 18 points for Kilbourne (9-12).

In other Division I tournament games: six three-pointers, to power fourth-seeded Westervill­e North (19-4) over visiting New Albany (7-16). Jake Warriner had 19 points to pace New Albany.

Nick Carlson scored 16 points, and Derek Van Vlerah added 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks to lead sixth-seeded Coffman (18-6) over visiting Jerome (1310). Jerome's Andrew Golda led all scorers with 19 points.

Colin Barteau (22 points) and Kaden Daniels (21) led the way as host Mount Vernon (17-7) held off Teays Valley (13-10). Ryan Wolfe scored 13 of his career-high 37 points for Teays Valley in the final period as the Vikings cut a big deficit to two. visiting Whetstone (2-21). The Golden Bears outscored the Braves 31-5 in the second quarter.

Josh Corbin scored 15 of his 18 points in a 31-14 third quarter, and seventh-seeded Gahanna (17-7) beat visiting Briggs (9-14). Elijah Thomas added 17 points and David Miller 16 for the Lions.

Visiting Northland (13-8) jumped to a 6-0 lead and was never threatened by Olentangy Liberty (11-13). Jejuan Weatherspo­on and William Mfum scored 17 points each for the Vikings.

Keenan Swindells totaled 18 points, five assists and five rebounds to lift top-seeded Fisher Catholic (16-9) over visiting Centerburg (7-17). Swindells hit five three-pointers.
