Allocco, Bradley push past Walnut Ridge

Matt Allocco scored 28 points and handed out five assists as Hilliard Bradley beat Walnut Ridge 54-44 in The Challenge — a fivegame event pitting City League teams against Ohio Capital Conference teams — Saturday at Africentric.

Walnut Ridge (7-2) jumped to a 7-0 lead, but Bradley (9-0) answered with 10 straight points and never trailed again. The Scots pulled as close as six in the final minute.

The Jaguars limited Walnut Ridge standout Voncameron Davis — who came in averaging an area-best 34.2 points per game — to 11. Meech Coble led the Scots with 12.

NORTHLAND 55, WESTERVILLE NORTH 54: N'keeley Elmore sank 1 of 2 foul shots with 6.3 seconds remaining and Northland (5-3) edged Westerville North (4-6) in The Challenge. Elmore led the Vikings with 19 points and four assists. Makhale Massey added 14 points. Phillip Alston had 16 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for North, which missed a runner as time expired.

UPPER ARLINGTON 56, EASTMOOR ACADEMY 54: Jake Warinner scored 19 points and Upper Arlington (7-1) held off Eastmoor (3-5) in The Challenge. CJ Karsatos added 13 points for UA, which sank 4 of 4 free throws in the final minute for the win. Julian Binford and Isaiah Kelley had 12 points each for Eastmoor. PICKERINGTON NORTH 85, CENTENNIAL 56: Jack Sawyer led three players in double figures with 16 points and Pickerington North (8-1) routed Centennial (5-2) in The Challenge. The Panthers jumped to a 28-13 lead. Myles Martinez paced Centennial with 15 points.
