UC blows lead in regulation, beats Uconn in OT

Jarron Cumberland scored 22 points, and Justin Jenifer hit a pivotal three-pointer in overtime Saturday night as host Cincinnati blew an 11-point lead in regulation before rallying to a 74-72 victory over Connecticu­t.the Bearcats (14-3, 3-1 American Athletic) led 46-35 with 12:44 left in regulation­before goingmore than 7 minutes without a field goal.

The Huskies (10-7, 1-3) sent it to overtime at 62-62 on Alterique Gilbert's floater in the lane just before the buzzer.

In overtime, Cumberland was fouled while shooting athree and made all the free throws, and he passed to Jenifer for an openthree with 1:19 left in that put the Bearcats up 70-65. Uconn had a chance for a final shot, but Christian Vital was called for a charge with 1.5 seconds left.

Cincinnati, which beat Tulsa 70-65 in OT on Thursday,won consecutiv­e overtime games for the first time since the 1966-67 season.

NO. 19 BUFFALO 88, MIAMI

64: Jeremy Harris scored 17 points and host Buffalo (15-1, 3-0 Mid-american Conference) shook off cold shooting early to cruise past Miami University (8-8, 0-3). Buffalo's Nick Perkins scored 12 points before hobbling off with an injury to his lower left leg midway through the second half. Dontay Caruthers scored six straight points in capping a decisive 19-2 run by hitting two free throws to put Buffalo ahead 63-42 with 8:34 left.

OHIO 70, BALL STATE 52: Teyvion Kirk scored 19 points with nine rebounds and Ohio (9-6, 1-2 MAC) beat Ball State (10-6, 1-2). Jason Carter of Johnstown added 13 points with nine rebounds and Northland graduate Doug Taylor scored 11 points. Jason Preston dished out eight assists. BOWLING GREEN 97, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 87, OT: Justin Turner scored 12 points in overtime to lead Bowling Green (11-5, 3-0 MAC) past host Central Michigan (13-3, 2-1). Turner, who finished with 30 points, forced overtime when he made two free throws with 7 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 78.

TOLEDO 85, WESTERN MICHIGAN 77: Nate Navigato and Jaelan Sanford scored 21 points apiece, Marreon Jackson added 15 with nine assists, and visiting Toledo (13-3, 1-2 MAC) beat Western Michigan (6-10, 0-3).

EASTERN MICHIGAN 95, KENT STATE 61: Elijah Minnie scored 22 points, making five threepoint­ers, and led five players in double-figure scoring as host Eastern Michigan (8-8, 2-1 MAC) blew past Kent State in the second half (12-4, 1-2). CAPITAL 98, JOHN CARROLL 85: Capital (13-2, 8-0) blew the game open with a 26-0 run in the first half and defeated visiting John Carroll (6-9, 2-6) in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Dan Auble and Joey Weingartne­r each had a pair of threepoint­ers during the run, which expanded the Crusaders' lead to 47-19. Weingartne­r and Austin Schreck each scored 19 points to lead the Crusaders, who won their 12th consecutiv­e game. The program record is 16 straight during the 2001-02 season.

HILLSDALE 67, OHIO DOMINICAN 65: Austen Yarian made a layup with 27 seconds left and host Hillsdale (11-5, 7-2 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) defeated Ohio Dominican (9-6, 5-3). The Panthers had a chance to tie with 2 seconds left, but Tahj Curry missed a jump shot and Davis Larson rebounded for Hillsdale.
