Bexley holds off Worthingto­n Christian rally

Ryan Callahan scored 23 points and visiting Bexley held on to edge Worthingto­n Christian 59-57 in a Mid-state League Ohio Division boys basketball game Saturday.

Worthingto­n Christian, which trailed 32-21 at halftime, pulled to two points on a layup by Derrick Harden with six seconds remaining. Bexley missed a oneand-one opportunit­y, opening the door for Worthingto­n Christian. But Harden missed the front end of a one-andone with 0.3 seconds left.

Nasir Tucker added 18 points for Bexley (9-4, 2-2). Harden had 23 for the Warriors (8-4, 1-2).

PICKERINGT­ON CENTRAL 76, EASTMOOR ACADEMY 46: Javohn Garcia scored a career-high 29 points and Pickeringt­on Central (12-0) rolled to a nonleague win at Eastmoor Academy (4-7). OLENTANGY 59, GROVEPORT 41: Sean Marks scored 24 points and host Olentangy (6-5) recorded a nonleague victory over Groveport (8-6). INDEPENDEN­CE 59, WHETSTONE 42: Benjamin James totaled 23 points, eight rebounds and four steals to lead host Independen­ce (3-9) over Whetstone (2-10) in a nonleague game. Andre Trent added 14 points for the 76ers. Jaden Arledge paced Whetstone with 12 points and 10 rebounds. LICKING HEIGHTS 58, HEATH 54: Markeece Brown scored 21 points, 12 coming from the free throw line, and host Licking Heights (5-6, 3-3) defeated Heath (5-6, 3-3) in Licking County League play. The Hornets went 25 of 37 at the line.
