• “This Magnificent Cake!” (2018): The stop-action animated film from Belgium is set in 19th-century Africa and follows five characters ranging from a king to an army deserter. Three short films will round out the program.

• “Battle in Heaven” (2005): The retrospective of films by Carlos Reygadas continues with the story of a rich family’s chauffeur (Marcos Hernandez) and his wife (Bertha Ruiz) who kidnap a baby but the crime goes awry, and the driver confesses to his boss’s daughter (Anapola Mushkadiz), a woman he lusts after.
Showtime: 7 p.m. Thursday • “Rock ’n’ Roll High School” (1979): A group of rock-loving students want to overthrow their music-hating high school principal, so they enlist the help of the Ramones to do it.
