A reward is being offered in the hope of generating new information in the 2012 homicide of a South Side man.

Carlos Hardiman Jr., 19, was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head around 11:15 p.m. on March 20, 2012. He was transferred to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center, where he died about 2½ hours later.

The shooting was reported to have occurred in the 800 block of Forest Street on the South Side.

He was a passenger in his sister's car and had been at his cousin's house before the shooting. There were four adults and a child in the car when it was struck by Hardiman gunfire.

More than a half-dozen shots struck the vehicle.

Hardiman's sister told The Dispatch in 2012 that she raced to Nationwide Children's Hospital with her brother in her car because it was the closest emergency room.

Hardiman graduated from Mifflin High School in 2010 and played on the football team. He briefly attended Central State University.

In death, Hardiman's organs were donated to help five other people.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS, submit a tip through email at www. stopcrime.org or submit tips through the free P3 Tips application, which is available on mobile devices.

Those providing tips can remain anonymous.
